Meeting this special African Elephant is bucket-list-worthy!
In a world where animals are often exploited and mistreated, it’s wonderfully refreshing to meet an exception to the notorious ‘tourist-trap’ destinations.
Tswale is an African elephant that was rescued from being culled as a young elephant, and trained for human interactions, with the aim of helping humans to better understand these amazing gentle giants, and to understand the importance of safe-guarding our animals. He has spent the past 2 decades being an incredible ambassador for his species.
Tswale was trained using the ‘Ask and Reward’ system, which is yet another wonderful exception to the rule in his story. Following a tragedy which caused the tragic death of his big sister, Tswale fled to his present home, where he is happy, well-adjusted and free to just be an elephant.
What to Expect
Meeting Tswale is an exceptional experience that is humbling and intimate. For most people, it’s unforgettable! You will learn more about how amazing elephants are, get the opportunity to feed Tswale some of his favorite snacks, and even give Tswale a hug.
As Tswale is free to just be an elephant, he sometimes takes his new friends on unexpected adventures to his dam, where he likes to swim, or to watch him indulge in a delightful mud bath. Whatever Tswale wants to show you about his wild life on the day you visit – it will always be special 😉
